Gift Baskets

Hollandia’s gift baskets are made to dazzle and delight, but they don’t just have to be a seasonal enjoyment. With the proper care, these gift baskets can become part of the home’s permanent décor.

Plant Care:
Check to see if the gift basket is made of plants still in individual pots or whether they are planted in soil. Individual pots need to be checked more thoroughly for water. Water the plants so the soil is evenly moist but not too wet. Most of these gift baskets do not have drainage holes, so water lightly and frequently. Fertilize once a month with a liquid fertilizer like Jack’s Classic or Miracle Gro. However, do not fertilize initially. The plants need a few weeks to acclimate to the new environment. Gift baskets can leak water moisture, so protect the surface you have set it upon. A temperate, sunny spot inside the house is ideal for long-term plant-care. Gift baskets are generally comprised of seasonal plants and houseplants. Often our customers will pull out the seasonal plants when the holidays are over and replace them with houseplants. Hollandia always has houseplants available in fourinch-pots.

Some customers eventually dismantle their baskets, potting up the houseplants they want to keep. Others let the baskets grow and change with the seasons. The baskets comprised of individual pots eventually need to be planted. Just use a good potting mix.
